PROJECT TYPE
Outdoor Living, Pool Plus Landscaping
This project was a recipient of the Grand Award from the NJNLA in 2025. This design transformed a 15-acre working farm into a refined yet understated outdoor living environment that complements its rural character. With strict zoning limiting development to a single acre, the design demanded thoughtful placement and sensitivity to the land. The new pool, set within the existing lawn, features thick stone coping and plant-defined boundaries, emphasizing a “less is more” design philosophy.
Mature trees were preserved, and new plantings—hydrangeas, boxwoods, hibiscus, and ornamental grasses—soften transitions and frame pastoral views. A dining terrace adjacent to the vegetable garden ties into the home’s existing brickwork, while a bluestone spa terrace extends from the master suite, subtly sunk to blend into the natural grade. A wood-burning fire pit beside the property’s pond anchors the outdoor experience. Every element was designed to harmonize with the surrounding farmland, using texture, proportion, and native-inspired plantings to achieve a balanced, timeless composition that honors both setting and function.
